HOMEMADE EARWIG LURE TRAP

A container of OLIVE OIL will attract earwigs. Death is decisive in approximately 10 seconds

Earwigs are nocturnal pests who love damp, wet, cool and moist living conditions and hiding places around those conditions.
.
They are omnivorous creatures however they don’t only pry on garden debris and decaying material but they can dessimate healthy ornamental plants, vegetables and fruit
.
Place oil traps around tree trunks and around areas where they love to hide in damp areas. This includes around rocks, mulch, crevices, cracks, leaves and any other hiding place you can think of
.
These traps are extremely useful because earwigs release a special type of pheromone that attracts earwigs to come together and this is one of the reasons on why you will often find them hiding in large clusters together or within a close proximity of each other
.
Often homemade traps like these may not be enough for larger infestations in which case sprays like pyrethrum are effective or the laying of diatomaceous earth in localised areas where they seem to hide and congregate
.
The other problem with earwigs is that they do not have predatory insects that can readily attack them and in the right conditions they can multiply very quickly and wreak havoc. In very severe cases where the populations have grown out of control, you may need the help of a professional pest controller and submit yourself to the use of a chemical solution

CUCUMBER heaven 😍

The whole point of growing CUCUMBERS for us is to harvest them, cut them up and use them in fresh salad and if we did harvest any excess cucumbers store them away in the refrigerator
.
Unfortunately with so many cucumbers growing at the moment, they are instead snapped off and eaten outside in the garden as a snack with a sprinkle of salt while we are doing jobs or just hanging around with visitors or enjoying a drink! 😂
