SEEDLING PLANTING TIP:

To avoid seedling transplant shock never ever transplant a seedling in hot direct sun
.
The best time to transplant a seedling is early morning. Wet the seedling and roots heavily prior to transplanting
.
When transplanting, avoid disturbing the roots and instead try and move the soil with it. Shaking the soil of the roots is not recommended as it escalates transplant shock and risks the plant of drying out
.
Once transplanted, water the seedling again and ensure the soil around it remains moist for at least the next 24 hours. Try and avoid watering seedlings at night. Water = Snails
.
Plants affected by transplant shock can take days to recover so don't be disheartened if your seedlings lay low and look flopped and very soft to the touch

We have decided to add another POMEGRANATE tree to our fruit collection which we planted today

This young tree was propagated from a cutting taken last year

A friend offered us a pomegranate from their homegrown tree. We were so impressed by its sweetness that we asked for a branch cutting so that we could grow it ourselves as a clone 😍

Whilst most fruit trees have low tolerance to poorly drained soils, the POMEGRANATE TREE is one of a very few and select fruit trees that can survive and thrive in soils that have poor water drainage like clay

In fact, they are the most adaptable fruit tree in the world for soil tolerance. The trees can also be grown anywhere from acidic sandy loam soil to alkaline soil right through to arid, rocky and gravel soil
