Our cucumber vines that were sowed from seed in late August are showing signs of fatigue and are starting to dry up. It’s been a long growing season for them and they’ve done exceptionally well thus far

CUCUMBER vines typically go hard and produce prolifically within a designated timeframe and then dry up and die. Here in Melbourne, gardeners often do two rounds of plantations. One in early September and another at this time (mid summer) to continue and enjoy cucumbers into early autumn
.
Even though our cucumber vines have started their lifecycle decline, there’s still plenty of cucumbers to be enjoyed before we pull the plug on them. We typically don’t do a secondary plantation in mid summer but instead try and prolong the health and longevity of our existing vines
