Unlike summer squash like zucchini, BUTTERNUT SQUASH is a winter squash variety meaning it is harvested and eaten as a mature fruit when the seeds have matured. Unlike the zucchini that is harvested as an immature fruit and eaten with the skin, winter squashes like butternut are generally not eaten with the skin but do however store terrifically well for winter use and beyond

Butternut squash are a superb sweet flavoured squash rich in nutrients and a great squash variety used in many different dishes and styles of cooking making it the complete all-rounder squash (in Australia we tend to call this variety of squash a pumpkin)

The secret to any potted citrus variety is moist, friable richly composted soil that drains well but does not dry out easily but soil that will not suffocate the roots or shrink the root ball causing water resistance which is a common problem when you mix incorrect soil with small pots
