THYME is a great versatile herb grown anywhere!
.
As long as the soil is not highly percolated, this unbreakable herb will survive and adapt quite comfortably to your environment. It even thrives in regions with poor or very little water intake
.
If your soil is too water-laden and compacted, loosen it up with sand, gravel, compost or gypsum
.
Note however, if you are using some gypsum to make your soil a little more workable and friable be careful applying too much. THYME prefers slightly sweeter soil and often grows in the wild in dry rocky or salty soils so be cautious applying too much gypsum because gypsum will remove sodium levels in the soil be it for a short term only. In our garden bed it’s being appreciating a dose of lime that has sweetened the soil
.
We find THYME grows best in full sun because we’ve noticed that a shaded area in winter with a low and weak sun makes the plant weak and it struggled a bit along with the cold temperatures until spring arrived

This poor plant has been swallowed up by our aggressive volunteer cherry tomato plant growing alongside it, however we are starting to see the tomatoes coming through now. These are a delicious little salad variety. Very tasty indeed 😋
