We are lucky we are getting any pumpkins at the moment. They are growing in an area heavily shaded by building, fence and trees and pollinators are a bit scarce
.
We are hoping we can pinch another pumpkin or two before the vines start drying up in earnest in April
.
If you haven’t grown pumpkins before give them a go. It’s great fun. Let them sprawl and then play a game of hide and seek to try and locate them
.
We do nothing with them apart from occasional watering and we don’t even throw extra manure/compost however they do perform better with heaps of animal poo and compost. We would stink the neighbourhood if we did that 😂

Our 3 pomegranate trees wont start fruiting till at least another year (if lucky) or two (realistically) but if we get fruit of this calibre, we’ll sure be enjoying some pretty amazing produce. One of our trees has been grown directly from a cloned cutting of the tree in picture

One of the easiest ways to grow a POMEGRANATE tree from scratch is to get a cutting but not just any cutting. POMEGRANATES don’t all taste the same and they can have varying levels of sweetness and some may be quite bland and disappoint in taste

Regional soil and environmental factors play a pivotal role to how sweet the fruit develops and although you may grow a tree successfully with fruit, it may not necessarily turn out to be as sweet as what you expected

Native POMEGRANATE trees that have been growing for thousands of years in the Middle East and the Mediterranean have long produced superior fruit of great sweetness often in areas of arid landscapes, dry conditions and extreme heat

But if you come across a POMEGRANATE that blows you away with its sweetness, don’t ignore the fact and try to find out which tree or area it came from and see if you can get a cutting and grow it yourself ✅
