TIPS for growing CITRUS trees in pots:

SOIL - Soil is the key for any potted citrus tree. Excellent drainage is very important. Sandy loam soil is superb for pots. It is best advised to mix this with compost and washed river sand. This particular soil mix is rich in nutrients and soil micro-activity whilst the sand assists in drainage and prevents the soil mix from slumping and becoming heavy

FEEDING - potted citrus require more frequent fertilising than their in-ground conterparts. Fertilise at least twice a year and monitor the tree closely for stress and apply plant tonic when needed. It does not hurt to apply gypsum to the soil particularly to offset the clay elements in the loam soil and provide critical sulphur and calcium to the growing tree

WATERING - potted trees need more watering than in-ground trees. Depending on the size of your pot, the tree can dry out and warm up very quickly in the heat requiring more water. TIP: Apply feeding mulch like pea straw in summer to keep the soil moist and damp during heat ✅
