Here come the HOT LONG CHILLI PEPPERS 👏👏👏
.
This chilli variety has replaced the Birdseye (Thai) chillies that we grew last year
.
For us, this variety of chilli is a better variety that we can use in a wider range of cooking applications and dishes. We are so glad we grew these plants from saved seed after purchasing the chillies from a market last year 😍

TOMATO BLOSSOM END ROT
.
This is caused by a calcium imbalance on the fruit itself
.
CALCIUM is a key nutrient for the development of healthy strong cells and plant tissue however it is also not a readily accessible nutrient to plants because of two key reasons - it is slow-moving from soil to plant and it is absorbed through water so any water-related issues (man-made or environmental) can cause a deficiency of calcium
.
STEP A - ensure your soil has enough calcium in order to be absorbed by water. CALCIUM is absorbed effectively in slightly alkaline soil. Make your soil more alkaline by adding agricultural lime/dolomite lime/wood ash and if your soil PH does not need to increase and you are certain there’s a lack of calcium (or you are concerned the soil is too alkaline), try alternative sources of CALCIUM to your soil like blood and bone, compost, gypsum, rock dust and/or rock phosphate
.
STEP B - Too much nitrogen in the soil will affect calcium uptake to the plant. The key to any soil management is a balanced ratio of key nutrients and minerals. Going overboard with topping up your soil with excessive CALCIUM will do nothing to improve the situation. It will also clash without other nutrients causing overall nutrient deficiencies to your plants
.
STEP C - Manage what you can control. Avoid inconsistent watering. The key again is watering. Sensible watering allows the CALCIUM from the soil to travel in time from soil to the developing fruit. If the soil is dry or you overwater, CALCIUM will simply not make it in time to the fruit. Remember, it is slow moving and needs a steady stream of water absorption. You cannot make it travel any faster to the fruit
.
Sometimes cold/hot weather and root damage (from weather or cold soil) causes CALCIUM deficiency
