This is our second year of collecting RASPBERRIES and every year it keeps getting better. Looking around the potted plant, there’s quite a few new canes growing for next years harvest so the more canes = more berries 😋

Our KIWIFRUIT vines are growing be it very slowly. They are naturally slow growers but we haven’t helped their cause by planting them on a past construction site!

They have no good soil whatsoever. They have been planted in debris/dirt containing crushed driveway gravel, driveway toppings, rock, crushed bricks, old crushed concrete, metal debris, cement mix (for the fence poles) and dry stale dirt. There is a deep layer of extremely heavy clay but it’s too deep and we can’t treat it, crush it or top it up with our own soil because the area is too small and hard to access, dig or cultivate (and need to be careful of pipes)

At one point we thought of closing this area off with concrete. The only thing we can do to assist the plant is liquid feed or apply pelletised fertiliser but even that is problematic because it runs off (it’s on a slope - you can’t see this in photo) so even with watering the majority just flows down the slope 😏

This is the story of our KIWI FRUIT 🥝 vines thus far but indications are that if they’ve survived up to this point they may evolve and acclimatise themselves around their poor growing environment. Fingers crossed 🤞
