Ah yes, we can spot EARWIG damage from a mile away. They have decided to set camp on our NECTARINE tree and have destroyed a number of our baby nectarines
.
EARWIGS are nocturnal feeders and they love damp moist conditions. It's understandable why they have targeted our nectarine tree. It's in a heavily shaded area with little sun and with stones acting as mulch, this tree never dries out creating a perfect breeding environment for earwigs. They are great hiders and scurry fast when disturbed
.
Best way to eradicate the colony is to use diluted essential oils. Try peppermint oil, lavender oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil or a mix of garlic and chilli. For off-the-shelf products try Pyrethrin that does not have synthetic Piperonyl Butoxide in it

Yesterday instead of a tomato salad with our main dinner, we opted for a zucchini style salad cut into little pieces and marinated in olive oil with salt and pepper. Oh my goodness. It was delicious 😋😋😋
