@thegeogarden, there's no need to invest in large PEACH trees when your barely half a metre tall dwarf tree delivers a bumper crop 😍😍😍

GARLIC FACT:
.
Garlic plants themselves do not flower but they do however produce a flower stalk known as a SCAPE (photo)
.
These stalks (or scapes) are prevalent in hardneck garlic varieties such as the Rocambole type that we are currently growing
.
The scape is how a garlic plant creates an offspring. The little lump you see in the photo is called an umbel. Think of it as a "seed pod". If it is left to grow on the scape, it can be cut and used to create new garlic plants via tiny "seeds" it contains called bulbils, however growing new garlic from a bulbil can take a couple (or more) years. For this reason, propagating garlic using a clove from a fully developed bulb is the more widely accepted and popular method for growing garlic ✅
.
SCAPES are however very tasty (including the bulbil) and you'll often find gardeners cut off the scapes to be prepared in the kitchen the same way you would typically prepare green onion
.
Often, as these SCAPES start growing larger towards the end of a garlic harvest season, they can be cut off to allow the energy of the plant to be diverted into stengthening the existing bulb and not forming new bulbils ✅
