Cucumbers are one of our favourite veggies in our summer salads 😋 To be able to sustain our massive craving we need CUCUMBERS and lots of them....

This season we have planted 10 CUCUMBER plants (providing snails don't eat them) all of which will be trained vertically up a trellis but we could potentially add more. We are planting lebanese cucumber, continental cucumber and a long green variety
.
Currently, they are looking good however snails are a constant threat because the seedlings aren't big enough to sustain a snail attack 😳

TIP:

When the seedlings are small try and give them some protection or physical barrier to snails. Never water cucumber seedlings at dusk or night time
.
A seedling of the size in the photo will be devoured overnight by a hungry snail colony. We check ours daily and nightly especially when it rains. Cucumber seedlings are one of the snails favourite meals ✅

This variety is sweet and can be eaten raw or cooked at any stage of its development

While the pods are flat you can munch on them like a snow pea or you can let them get big and muscly and harvest them when they turn green

We like to open the pods and eat the peas raw but you can eat the whole pod raw if you preferred that 😂
